Jordan Washington Selected In Korean Basketball League Draft

LAS VEGAS, NV - Iona College men's basketball alumnus Jordan Washington was selected in the 2017 Korean Basketball League (KBL) Foreign Player Draft with the fifth pick in the second round by Wonju Dongbu Promy. Twenty players were selected for the upcoming season.

Washington participated in the invitation-only pre-draft workouts this past week at Desert Oasis High School. He and former Siena standout Lavon Long among the 92 invitees to the workouts. Washington was the lone 2017 rookie selected among the 20 players. According to the KBL's official website, second round selections are slotted to make a monthly salary of $20,000 USD.

Washington was an All-MAAC and All-Metropolitan First Team selection and was the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2017 MAAC Championship in Albany this past March. In two seasons with the Gaels, he scored 1,070 points and grabbed 463 rebounds, a 16.2 ppg and 7.0 rpg average. As a senior, Washington led the Maroon & Gold with 18.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. 

Washington was at his best on the big stage as he helped guide the Gaels to two straight MAAC Championship titles and NCAA Tournament appearances. He recorded double-doubles in both NCAA contests with 26 points and 12 rebounds vs. Iowa State in 2016 and 22 points and 12 rebounds against eventual Final Four participant Oregon in 2017. Washington ranks No. 2 all-time in scoring in NCAA tournament games with his 48 total points. Jeff Ruland is first with 51 points in three games. Ruland's teammates and Iona Goal Club Hall of Fame colleagues Kevin Hamilton (47) and Glenn Vickers (45) rank third and fourth on the list.
