Giuliano Santucci Signs Professional Contract With Patriotas Boyaca FC

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona College men's soccer senior goalkeeper Giuliano Santucci has signed a professional contract with Patriotas Boyacá F.C., a professional Colombian team based in Tunja, Colombia.

"My time at Iona was filled with amazing memories on and off the field. Making history alongside my brothers by winning the MAAC Championship was the best way to leave the program," Santucci said. "I'm grateful for my teammates, classmates, staff, teachers and coaches for the education and support I have received from each and every one of them in each aspect of my life. Iona is a huge part of me and I'm happy I can represent the college and the men's soccer program in a professional environment."

Santucci played one season at Marist College before transferring to Iona for the 2018 season. In his first year with the Maroon & Gold, Santucci started in 13 matches, posting an 8-4-1 record with four shutouts.

Last season, Santucci started 14 matches and won 10, a new career best and the fourth most in a single season in program history. Santucci's 10th and final win in 2019 was against Saint Peter's in the MAAC Championship, Iona's first in program history.

"Everyone at Iona is extremely happy for Gigi in achieving this lifelong goal," Iona men's soccer head coach James Hamilton said. "He's represented us flawlessly over the past few years with his commitment to training and self-improvement, and also with his tremendous charity work. We wish him nothing but success and believe he has great things ahead of him."
