Iona University Athletics

Linda Hathorn was named head coach of the Iona College women's soccer program in February 2013.  Hathorn came to New Rochelle after a two-year stint as assistant coach at her alma mater, the University of Maine.

"I am extremely excited to join the Iona College family," said Hathorn. "I would like to thank the Iona College for the opportunity to continue the development of the Gaels women's soccer program."

In her first season with the Gaels, Iona completed the 2013 season with a 7-8-4 overall record and 6-2-2 in the MAAC as six players earned All-Conference recognition and 12 players were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. The 20 points earned in league play were the most in the history of the program. Iona's No. 3 seed in the MAAC Championship was also the highest since its MAAC Championship campaign in 1999.

A former standout for the Black Bears and 2011 Maine Athletics Hall of Famer, Hathorn was a two-time America East Defender of the Year.  Her experience on the pitch helped her gain valuable coaching experience at Valparaiso, Northern Arizona and Regis.

In 2008, Hathorn was instrumental in helping Northern Arizona win its first Big Sky Conference championship in program history and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.

At Maine, Hathorn helped guide the squad to 12 wins in two years and a trip to the America East Tournament. Among her accomplishments as a coach, Hathorn developed three America East All-Rookie members along with Charlene Achille, 2012 Rookie of the Year and All-Northeast Region Third Team selection.

A native of Beaconsfield, Quebec, Hathorn has coached various Canadian Youth National Teams and is currently the assistant coach for the Under-17 national team, who recently finished second at the 2012 CONCACAF Finals in Guatemala and competed at the U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan.  

In 2010 she was a member of the staff of the U-17 team that won the U-17 CONCACAF Finals in Costa Rica.  She has also served as a consultant for the Canadian Soccer Association National Teams, where she provides technical support and assistance for Dartfish Video Analysis Software within the Association.  Hathorn additionally served as technical assistant for the Canadian National Excel U17-U19 camp in British Columbia in June 2013.

Aside from a stellar career at Maine, Hathorn was on the Canadian Senior Women's National Team in 2003 and 2004 and played in the Women's World Cup in 2003 and also won a silver medal in the Pan American games. Aside from her Canadian National Team experience, she played for the Ottawa Fury of the W-League from 2003-2006.

A 2006 graduate of Maine, Hathorn was named an All-Rookie team member in 2001 and earned a spot on the All-Conference team in 2002, 2003 and 2005. She was also an All-Academic selection all four years in addition to an ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team pick as a senior.

She earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology and physical education in 2005. Hathorn has obtained her NSCAA advanced national coaching license in 2008, USSF national "B" license, and completed her USSF National "A" Coaching License in 2011.

The former Linda Consolante is married to Donnie Hathorn.
