New Rochelle, NY - No. 1 Fairfield added another match to Iona's loss column, beating Iona volleyball in three straight games. The Stags (12-0 MAAC) remain undefeated after taking down the Gaels (3-9 MAAC) 30-14, 30-20, and 30-26.

The Gaels looked primed to enter uncharted conference territory, quickly leading the first game. A Kristin Allain kill marked the first point of the evening, and Allain followed by serving for two straight Iona tallies. After a brilliant start by the Maroon & Gold, Fairfield pulled ahead to a large lead. With the score tied at six, the Stags outscored the Gaels 24-8 for the win.

Game two started out much the same, with Allain and Whitney Wright combining for three opening points. Iona stood firm against an intense Fairfield front line, keeping the score close throughout most of the game. Ten errors by the Stags were not enough to cause significant damage. Although Iona led 19-7 in kills, the squad could not pull even in the match.

The Gaels looked their strongest in game three. Trying to save the contest, they managed a .211-.154 advantage in attack percentage, and an 18-15 lead in kills over their opponent. The athletic powerhouse Stags, led by dynamo Lindsey Lee, proved why they are unbeaten as they took game three by just a slim margin over the Gaels, who put in a tremendous effort.

Megan Dailey led Iona with ten kills, followed closely by Allain's nine. Allain was first for the Gaels in attack percentage, hitting .375. Shelby Erb recorded a team-high 14 digs.

The action picks back up on Saturday (Oct. 28) when the Gaels host Niagara at 2:00 pm.
