Lawrenceville, NJ - The Rider Broncs took hold of a three-game set, beating the Iona College volleyball team 30-20, 30-25, and 34-32. The match was the first of two for the Gaels in what is their final road series of the regular season.
The Broncs led 19-8 in kills in game one, with a .244-.071 advantage in attack percentage. Eight of the Gaels' 20 points came on errors given up by the opponent. Iona stepped it up in game two, scoring on consecutive kills by Morgan Young and another pair from Kristin Allain. Four tallies ahead by game-point, Rider put away the second game with a kill by JoAnna Winter.
Game three featured eleven tied scores, as both teams virtually matched points up until the 12 mark. With 29 points each, the Broncs' Katrina Stehle and Megan Dailey went kill-for-kill to tie the game at 30. Back to back attack errors charged to Megan Smith and Beth Holly had things even at 31, then another Smith kill and a Rider error brought it up to 32-all. The Broncs finally scored two unanswered points to seal the game and the match.
Iona will play their final match of the regular season at Siena.
