Loudonville, NY - The Siena Saints proved tough competition as they rallied a three-game shutout over the Iona College volleyball team in their last regular season contest of 2006. The Gaels finish the campaign with a 7-20 overall record (5-13 MAAC).
The Maroon & Gold struggled offensively, being held to just 27 total kills over the three game set. The team hit for a .034 attack percentage on four kills in game one, and a -.114 attack percentage on five kills in game three. The Gaels were able to hold their own against Siena in the middle round, but came up short by a three kill deficit and a .341-.314 disadvantage.
Kristin Allain and Megan Dailey were the heavy hitters for Iona, both leading the team with seven kills apiece. Morgan Young's ten digs were the most for the team, while Alyssa Morales was the top setter with 20.
The squad will head down to Florida for the MAAC Championships to be held Nov. 16-18 at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.
