Niagara Univ., NY - Kendall Paulus led the Gaels with yet another double-double on the season, as the Iona College volleyball team (11-14, 8-4) swept Niagara (5-16, 3-9) in a three game match. The win broke the Gaels of a two-match losing skid.
Iona outnumbered the Purple Eagles in just about every statistical category, leading 47-38 in kills, 46-33 in assists, 4-3 in service aces, 74-54 in digs, and 16-5 in blocks.
Sophomore Sarah Wiener had a match-high 14 kills with Paulus closely following with 13 kills and 11 digs. Allison Nieters' 30 digs led the field, while Alyssa Morales' 43 assists also beat out the competition. Morales also had the second-most dig total for the Maroon & Gold with 13.
Iona returns home on Oct. 26 to kick off a three game series at the Hynes Athletics Center. The squad will take on Saint Peter's at 7:00 pm.
