JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Todd Sowell came off the bench to score 15 points and pull down nine rebounds as St. Peter's held off Iona 59-52 on Thursday night.

Kevin Spann added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Peacocks (4-22, 2-14 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), while Raul Orta finished with 13 points. Anthony Bruin had 18 points and eight rebounds for Iona (1-25, 1-15), which made just 32.7 percent of its shots and committed 15 turnovers.

St. Peter's led most of the game but could not put away the Gaels, who cut the lead to 55-52 when De'Shaune Griffin hit the second of two free throws with 1:18 remaining. Iona, though, would not score again and the Peacocks went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final 35 seconds to seal the win.
