Jersey City, NJ - The Iona College volleyball team opened up its 2007 MAAC schedule with a thrilling five-game win over Saint Peter's at the Yanitelli Center. Sophomore Sarah Wiener had 20 kills in the win.

After dropping the first game 30-27, the Gaels (3-8, 1-0 MAAC) won the next two. The Peahens (2-12, 0-2 MAAC) won game five 33-31 before the Maroon & Gold came back to win the final game 15-13.

Wiener hit .268 with 20 kills in 56 attempts both game highs. Junior Kendall Paulus added 16 kills and 19 digs, senior Kristin Allain had 14 kills while freshman Colleen Genett had 13 kills and five blocks.

Rookie libero Allison Nieters recorded 38 digs and junior setter Alyssa Morales had 59 of Iona's 69 assists.

Iona is back in action tomorrow when they take on Marist.
