New Rochelle, NY- Sophomore OH Sarah Weiner's 19 kills led three Gaels in double-figure kill totals in a four-game win over Niagara at the Hynes Center this afternoon. The Gaels (5-9, 3-0 MAAC) remain unbeaten after the first three MAAC contests of the season.
Iona took the first game rather easily 30-21 before falling behind early in game two and falling short in a comeback attempt 30-26. An epic battle ensued in game three as it took the Maroon & Gold 35 points to fend off the Purple Eagles. The Gaels proved too much for the visitors in game four (30-24) to come away with the victory.

Allison Nieters continued her stellar defensive play with 38 digs. She improved her season average to more than six digs per game, putting her in the Top 15 in the nation in the statistic. She's averaged more than seven digs a game in three MAAC contests.

Alyssa Morales had a double-double with 54 assists and 12 digs while freshman RS
Bethany Schornack also added double-digit digs with 11. Sophomore MB
Kimberlee Boogaard came into the match in the second game and had nine kills in 11 attempts for an astounding .636 hitting percentage. Wiener was second with a .271 average.
The Gaels look to hold onto their first place MAAC standing tomorrow afternoon at the Hynes Center when they host Canisius. First serve is slated for 2:00 pm.
