NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team completed much needed rebound weekend with a four-set win over Marist in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center. After dropping the first 25-22, the Gaels rebounded for three straight set wins 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.
The Maroon & Gold held serve at home in both matches this weekend, topping Saint Peter's on Saturday afternoon.

Molly O'Shea led the way with 22.5 points including a season-high 19 kills while also adding five blocks. O'Shea hit .421 with three errors in 38 attempts. Senior OH
Sarah Wiener recorded 21 kills with a .281 hitting percentage. Juniors MB

Bethany Schornack also contributed double digit points. Genett recorded seven kills and seven blocks while her classmate posted six kills, matched the block total and recorded a key ace in the fourth set clincher.
In addition to the 11.5 blocks recorded as a team, Iona was solid in the back row with junior libero
Allison Nieters posting 30 digs for the second time this season. Schornack added 15 digs while rookie RS
Theresa Harvey had eight and junior DS
Laura Fojanesi posted six. The Gaels were also perfect on 82 service receptions. Nieters' 23 receptions were complimented by 19 from Fojanesi and 18 from Harvey in the back row.
Both Nieters and Wiener are quickly approaching millennia milestones within reach over the next couple of matches. Nieters is 125 digs shy of becoming the first player in school history with 2,000+ digs. Wiener is 21 kills shy of becoming the eighth player at Iona to reach 1,000.
The Gaels are back in action next weekend in rematches on the road at Siena on Saturday and at the Hynes Center vs. Loyola on Sunday.
