FAIRFIELD, CT - The Iona College volleyball team completed its 2009 season with a four-set loss to Fairfield at Alumni Hall.  The Gaels dropped the match, 12-25, 25-23, 20-25, 21-25 and finished the season with a 12-16 overall record and 9-9 in MAAC play.

Junior OH Rachel Whitten had a team-high 11 kills.  She completed her fifth double-double of the year with 12 digs. Junior MB Colleen Genett hit .500 with seven kills and one error on 12 attempts.   Sophomore MB Molly O'Shea and senior OH Sarah Wiener posted six kills and three blocks a piece.  Wiener finished her career at Iona with 1,100 kills, the fifth highest total in school history.

Sophomore S Nicole Tamburri and junior S Alyssa Erickson combined for 39 assists.  Junior libero Allison Nieters had 16 digs. With 2,055 career digs through her first three seasons, she stands just 40 digs away from the MAAC record held by Canisius grad Jess Stackhouse.
