BALTIMORE, MD - The Iona College women's swimming and diving team completed day two of the H2ounds Invitational hosted by Loyola University Maryland. The Gaels were outscored by Delaware 78-289, Loyola 172-195 and Marist 115-245.
In the 400 yard medley relay, the Iona team of Kelsie Johnson, Sarah Walker, Sam Cody and Theresa Harvey took third place with a time of 4:01.77. The team of Brittany Freeman, Jamie Manser, Victoria Ponzo and Christine Larkin secured sixth place with a time of 4:05.53.
Kara Nowakowski took ninth for the Gaels in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:14.72. Christine Larkin took 11th with a time of 5:17.01. Caitlin McGregor had the 14th best time amongst finishers with a time of 5:18.57. Ponzo's time of 5:21.32 was 16th, while Kellie Mark's 5:35.73 was good for 20th.
Freeman's 2:17.50 was the 11th best finish in the 200 yard IM. Cody finished just behind with a time of 2:17.88, placing her 14th. Johnson's 2:21.39 time tied for 17th, while Walker was just behind in 19th with a time of 2:21.51.
Harvey took second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.20, while Mackenzie Mone was 11th with atime of 25.13. Manser took 17th with a time of 26.10.
The 800 yard freestyle relay team of Harvey, Nowakowski, McGregor and Mone finished third with a time of 7:52.56. The team of Freeman, Ponzo, Cody and Larkin was seventh with a time of 8:08.93.
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the team of Harvey, Manser, Christine Williams and Mone took fourth with a time of 1:41.25.
Nowakowski took 11th in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:52.00. Williams was 18th with a time of 5:00.65, while Mark was 20th with a time of 5:05.13.
Cody took eighth in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.97.
Mone took fifth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.84. Harvey was just behind her in sixth with a time of 1:56.18. Larkin was 10th with a time of 1:59.33, followed just behind by McGregor's 12th place time of 1:59.58. Megan McNeely rounded out the Iona finishers with a time of 2:03.80, good for 18th.
Johnson took fourth in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.33. Freeman's 1:02.94 was good for 12th place.
Manser took second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.79. Walker finished sixth with a time of 1:08.67.
Nowakowski was sixth in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:57.94. Ponzo was eighth with a time of 18:08.56, while Larkin was ninth with a time of 18:17.25. Williams took 14th with a time of 19:25.58.
In the 200 yard medley relay, the team of Johnson, Manser, Cody and Mone finished fourth with a time of 1:53.09. The team of Freeman, Walker, Ponzo and Williams was seventh with a time of 1:56.07.
Freeman placed eighth in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:13.60, while Johnson was 11th with a time of 2:16.88. McNeely took 15th with a time of 2:18.19.
Harvey took first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.42. Mone was seventh with a time of 53.90 and McGregor was 12th with a time of 56.89.
Walker was seventh in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:33.08. Manser was 10th with a time of 2:34.51.
Ponzo placed 11th in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.73, while Cody was just behind with a time of 2:14.53. Williams took 20th with a time of 2:29.27.
The relay team of Harvey, McGregor, Larkin and Mone placed third in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:38.65. The time of Freeman, Nowakowski, Williams and McNeely took eighth with a time of 3:49.16.
The Gaels take a break from competition until Jan. 13, when they take on Oneonta State during the team's Intermission Training Trip to Ft. Launderdale, Florida.
