NIAGARA UNIV., NY - The Iona College volleyball team lost in four sets to Niagara in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Gallagher Center. The Gaels fell to 0-2 after the opening weekend of MAAC play.

After winning the first set 25-20, the Maroon & Gold dropped the final three in the loss, 21-25, 19-25, 21-25.

Junior OH Rachel Whitten matched a 2009-best with 15 kills while senior Sarah Wiener had 14 and rookie Theresa Harvey posted a career-best 12. Harvey completed her second double-double of the season with 18 digs. Sophomore also recorded a double-double - her third of the season with 43 assists and 14 digs. She also posted a team best four blocks. Junior libero Allison Nieters had 22 digs while classmate Bethany Schornack added 10 in the loss.

The Gaels play their 2009 home opener on Saturday (Sep. 26) afternoon when they take on Siena at 2:00 pm.
