RIVERSIDE, CA - The Iona College men's water polo team split its first two games at the Lancer Invitational on Friday. In the first game, the Gaels defeated Chapman by a score of 12-7. In game two, Iona was bested by the host team Cal Baptist 16-8.
Against Chapman, junior Seth Tasman and freshman Kristian Bocage each had four goals and two assists. Senior Joe Przekota had two goals. Sophomores Cameron Hudson and Hunter Carrier had a goal apiece while freshman Connor Bracken had one assist.
Junior goalkeeper Eric Konzem had 12 saves for the Gaels.
In game two, the Gaels were unable to cut into the Lancers' lead after they were outscored 3-0 in the first quarter. Przekota led the Gaels with 3 goals and an assist. Bocage had two goals and one kickout drawn. Tasman had a goal, an assist and three steals. Sophomores Matt Joslyn and Ryan Scott each had a tally. Senior Emre Erdogan had two assists and two kickouts drawn. Carrier and senior Erik Lilly each had assists on Iona goals.
Konzem had 15 saves against the Lancers.
The Gaels complete the weeekend trip to the Golden State with a pair of contests on Saturday. The Gaels take on Claremont at 3:00 pm and Ponoma at 7:30 pm.
