CLAREMONT, CA - The Iona College men's water polo team completed its west coast trip with a pair of defeats at the Lancer Invitational this past weekend. The Gaels were defeated by Claremont 10-6 and suffered a 17-10 setback to Pomona later in the day.
Against Claremont, the Iona offense was led by senior
Joe Przekota's two goals. Sophomore
Ryan Oldendorf has two of his own, while fellow second year players
Matt Joslyn and
Cameron Hudson each contributed a tally.
Junior goalkeeper
Eric Konzem had eight saves in net for the Gaels.
In the Pomona contest, junior
Seth Tasman had six points, on three goals and three assists. He also added a steal and three field blocks. Przekota also had three goals, as well as an assist and five kickouts drawn. Freshman
Connor Bracken had a goal and an assist. Freshmen
Joe Dungan and
Kristian Bocage each had a goal, while sophomore
Cameron Hudson was responsible for the Gaels' other tally. Junior
Andrew Velasquez added an assist.
Konzem had 13 saves for the Maroon & Gold, as well as three steals and three assists.
The Gaels return to the water Oct. 10 when they travel to Cambridge, MA to take on MIT. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
