CLAREMONT, CA - The Iona College men's water polo team completed play Saturday at the 2010 Convergence Tournament. In game one, Iona was defeated 11-10 by Cal Lutheran before falling in game two to Chapman 12-4.

Against Cal Lutheran, a three goal first by the Knights allowed them to keep the lead throughout the contest. A five goal fourth quarter by the Gaels cut the Cal Lutheran lead to its one goal margin before time ran out on Iona. Iona was unable to capitalize on man up advantages, going 2-9 during the game.

Senior Seth Tasman had two goals and an assist against the Knights. Sophomore Kristian Bocage also had two goals for the Maroon & Gold. Junior Cameron Hudson had two goals, two kickouts drawn and went 3-4 on swimoffs while classmate Matt Joslyn had two assists and drew two kickouts. Sophomore Connor Bracken had a goal and a kickout drawn while goals from freshmen Lee Stiles, Sean Davis and Matthew Stelnicki filled the Iona quota in game one. Freshman Stefen Hill made 12 saves in net.

Against Chapman, Iona was unable to find the net despite 28 shots attempted. The inability to score put the Gaels in a hole throughout as Chapman scored four goals in both the first and second quarters.

Davis had a goal and an assist for Iona, while classmate Stelnicki found the net. Bocage and sophomore Brandon Crane contributed the remaining Iona goals. Freshman Tom Gaughan made four saves in two quarters of play. Hill made four saves as well after coming in at halftime.

The Gaels are back in action Oct. 23 when they take on Princeton (10:00 am) and George Washington (2:00 pm) at the CWPA North-South Crossover in Princeton, NJ.
