PRINCETON, NJ - The Iona College men's water polo team dropped their first two contests of the CWPA North-South Crossover. In game one, Iona lost to host Princeton 11-5. In game two, the Gaels fell to George Washington 10-7.
Against Princeton, the Gaels were unable to get any offense going in the first half, getting outscored 8-0 in the first two quarters. The Gaels picked up five goals in the second half but were unsuccessful in mounting a comeback against the Tigers. Freshman
Lee Stiles had three goals for Iona, while sophomores
Connor Bracken and
Cody Siemeck added the other Iona tallies. Freshman
Stefen Hill had six saves.
Against George Washington, junior
Cameron Hudson had three goals and won all four swimoffs. Senior
Seth Tasman and freshman
Matthew Stelnicki had two goals and sophomore
Kristian Bocage had the final Iona goal.
The Gaels are back in action Sunday for day two of the Crossover. The Gaels open with a 11:45 am contest with Gannon before taking on Mercyhurst at 2:00 pm.
