LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Iona College volleyball team completed the 2010 regular season with a three set sweep of Rider at Alumni Gym. The Gaels finished the year at 12-6 in MAAC play and will serve as the No. 2 seed in next weekend's MAAC Championship at the Milk House in Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

The Gaels made quick work of the Broncs in straight sets, 25-16, 25-12 and 25-14. Rider held just one lead in the match at 3-2 in the middle frame.

Freshman OH Alicja Pawelec posted 14 kills to lead the Gaels. Sophomore OH Theresa Harvey added nine kills while hitting .320 and posting 12 digs in the win. Senior setter Alyssa Erickson posted 25 assists with nine digs and a career-best six aces. Senior MB Rachel Whitten posted a team-best six blocks and senior libero Allison Nieters had 14 digs.

The Gaels will play their first match at the MAAC Championship on Thursday (Nov. 18) at 5:00 pm. The Maroon & Gold take on the winner of No. 7 Marist and No. 10 Rider on the auxillary court at the Milk House.
