LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL - The Iona College volleyball team was defeated by Niagara in the 2010 MAAC Championship game at HP Field House in Disney's Wide World of Sports. The Purple Eagles topped the Gaels in straight sets (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) to earn their second straight MAAC crown.

Iona ended its season with a 20-11 record, its third 20-win season in the last 18 years.

Senior setter Alyssa Erickson posted a double-double with 19 assists while matching her career-high with 16 digs. Freshman OH Alicja Pawelec and senior MB Colleen Genett each had six kills to lead the Gaels.

Senior libero Allison Nieters recorded nine digs in her final match in Maroon & Gold. She finished her career with 2,682 digs, nearly double the No. 2 performer on Iona's all-time list, and nearly 500 more than the No. 2 performer in MAAC history. The total finished No. 5 on the NCAA's all-time digs list.
