CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Iona College men's water polo team finished play for the 2010 season at the CWPA Northern Division Championship. The Gaels took sixth place at the tournament after falling to Harvard 7-6 in the fifth place contest Sunday morning.
The Gaels were unable to get going early, falling behind 6-1 after two quarters. The deficit was too much to overcome despite outscoring the Crimson 5-1 in the second half. The Gaels were almost able to knot the contest but a scoreboard error negated a fourth quarter goal.
Senior
Seth Tasman concluded the season in the usual position of top scorer. Tasman found the net three times while junior
Trevor Creighton and
Cameron Hudson each had a goal apiece. Freshman
Sean Davis was responsible for the final Iona tally. Freshman
Stefen Hill made four saves for the Gaels while classmate
Tom Gaughan made five in a relief role.
"It's a disappointing end to a tough year," said head coach
Brian Kelly. "But we bring back our entire squad next year and all of these tough one goal losses will be wins for us next fall."
