CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Iona College men's water polo team was defeated by Mercyhurst 9-8 in the ninth place game of the 2010 ECAC Championships. For Iona, it was the team's third one goal loss this season.

Iona was led by freshman Lee Stiles' three point contest. Stiles scored two goals and added an assist. Junior Trevor Creighton and senior Seth Tasman also had two tallies for the Gaels. Junior Matt Joslyn had a goal and drew four kickouts. Freshman Matthew Stelnicki notched his second two goal game of the season and junior Cameron Hudson added the final Iona tally. Freshman Sean Davis had an assist for the Gaels.

In net, freshman Stefen Hill had 14 saves for Iona. The Gaels are back in the pool Wednesday when they host St. Francis (NY) at the Hynes Center Pool at 8:00 pm.
