CAMBRIDGE, MA - The Iona College men's water polo team was unable to pick up a second win on its New England weekend roadtrip, falling to MIT 11-8 Sunday morning. The Gaels were unable to stop the Engineers in the fourth quarter as MIT scored five unanswered goals in the final frame.
"We are a very young team and that shows late in games, said Coach
Brian Kelly. "We need to work on playing all four quarters and find ways to stop the opposition's runs by getting a big goal when we need it."
Senior
Seth Tasman and sophomore
Connor Bracken each had two goals and an assist to lead the Gaels with three points. Tasman also had two kickouts drawn and one field block. Freshman
Matthew Stelnicki had two goals while sophomore
Kristian Bocage and freshman
Sean Davis had tallies for the Gaels. Freshman
Stefen Hill stopped nine shots in net.
Iona returns to the water Wednesday when they travel to Flushing, NY to take on Queens College at 8:00 pm.
