NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College women's swimming and diving team returned to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action for the first time in over a month with a meet Tuesday evening with the visiting Saint Peter's College. The Gaels were able to outscore the Peahens by a score of 131-90.
Kara Nowakowski picked up the first win for the Gaels, touching the wall in the 11:00.26. The Gaels took the next two spots as well with
Victoria Ponzo taking second with a time of 11:12.45 and
Christine Larkin taking third with a time of 11:36.94.
The Gaels took one-two-three in the next event, the 50 yd freestyle. Harvey was first with a time of 25.25, with
Kerri-Anne Dodenhoff second with a time of 26.54.
Sarah Walker rounded out the finishers with a time of 27.62.
In the 200 yd IM,
Jamie Manser took third with a time of 2:22.10, with Michalak fourth with a time of 2:26.74.
Ponzo was first in the 200 yd butterfly with a time of 2:17.10. Williams was fourth in the event with a time of 2:24.50.
Harvey was triumphant in the 100 yd freestyle with a time of 54.43, with
Mackenzie Mone second with a time of 55.37. Dodenhoff was third in the event with atime of 57.69.
Skeivys was second in the 200 yd backstroke with a time of 2:11.23. Freeman was just behind in third with a time of 2:19.09.
Kelsie Johnson was fifth in the event with a time of 2:19.59.
Nowakowski took her second victory of the evening with a first place finish in the 500 yd freestyle with a time of 5:23.18. Doughty was third in the event with a time of 5:27.69. McGregor rounded out the Iona finishers with a fourth place finish in a time of 5:35.58.
In three meter diving, Gongloff picked up 197.63 points. Dilascio was just behind with 180.75 points and Colburn was third with 147.80 points.
In the 200 yd breaststroke,
Sarah Walker clocked in with a time of 2:32.83. Manser touched the wall in a time of 2:36.01 while
Sophia Hyokyvaara finished with a time of 2:36.09.
In the 400 yd freestyle relay, the team of Dodenhoff, Doughty, Williams and Mone finished with a time of 3:50.55. The quartet of Larkin, McGregor, Skeivys and
Sam Cody clocked in at 3:58.79.
The Gaels return to the water at home on Sat. Jan. 29, when they host Fairfield at 1:00 pm.
