NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College women's swimming and diving team picked up a crucial Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory in its final conference matchup of the regular season. The Gaels turned aside Fairfield by a score of 145-98 Saturday afternoon at the Hynes Center Pool.
In the 1000 yd freestyle, Kara Noawkowski took first, touching the wall with a time of 10:53.17.
Victoria Ponzo took third with a time of 11:22.54.
Christine Williams was fifth with a time of 11:30.23.
In the 200 yd freestyle,
Mackenzie Mone made it back-to-back wins for the Gaels, taking first with a time of 1:58.16.
Brigitte Doughty was just behind in second with a time of 2:00.37.
Caitlin McGregor was fifth with a time of 2:05.39.
Theresa Harvey took second in the 50 yd freestyle with a time of 25.05. Dodenhoff was behind in third with a time of 26.28 with Larkin in fourth with a time of 27.68.
In the 200 yd IM, Skeivys took first with a time of 2:15.22. Cody was fourth with a time of 2:16.45 with Michalak right behind in fifth with a time of 2:23.10.
In the 200 yd fly, Nowakowski took second with a time of 2:16.47. Cody was next in third with a time of 2:16.51 with Ponzo in fifth with a time of 2:21.25.
Harvey was second in the 100 yd freestyle with a time of 54.69. Mone was just behind in third witha time of 55.51. Dodenhoff was fifth with a time of 57.37.
Skeivys picked up a first place finish in the 200 yd backstroke with a time of 2:13.49. Freeman took second with a time of 2:18.01 and Michalak was sixth with a time of 2:26.98.
Nowakowski picked up another victory, this time in the 500 yd freestyle, with a time of 5:18.67. Doughty was second in the event with a time of 5:19.59. Williams was sixth in the event with a time of 5:43.27.
In three meter diving, Gongloff took first with 192.67 points. Dilascio was third with 151.87 points and Colburn was fourth with 140.25 points.
Manser took second in the 200 yd breaststroke with a time of 2:32.10.
Sophia Hyokyvaara was third with 2:32.67 and
Sarah Walker was fourth with a time of 2:35.24.
The 400 freestyle relay of Mone, Doughty, Williams and Harvey took first in the event with a time of 3:45.50. The relay team of of Skeivys, Freeman, McGregor and Larkin took third with a time of 3:54.38.
The Gaels return to the water Monday when they host the United States Merchant Marine Academy, beginning at 6:00 pm.
