HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA - The Iona College men's water polo team had yet another close contest on their west coast pilgrimage, this time Saturday afternoon against No. 19 Cal Baptist. The Gaels stayed close throughout, with the contest tied at the end of the first three quarters. The Lancers would then outscore the Gaels 4-3 in the final frame with the winning score coming with less than 30 seconds left in the contest on a man up opportunity.
Senior
Cameron Hudson scored four times on a team high nine shots, along with two steals on the defensive end. Freshman
Tyler Mancuso scored twice and drew two ejections. Sophomore
Matthew Stelnicki had one goal, two assists and drew two kickouts of his own. Senior Matt Joyslyn had two assists for the Maroon & Gold while junior
Kristian Bocage and freshmen
Jake Lloyd and
Kyle Elmore had one goal apiece. Sophomore
Stefen Hill was strong yet again in net, posting eight saves.
The Gaels wrap up their trip Sunday with two contests in La Verne, CA, beginning with a matchup against the Leopards at 1:00 pm EST.
