NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team fell to Siena in three sets at the Hynes Center. Despite the sweep, the Gaels had opportunities in both the first and final frames as they were each decided by two points in the 25-27, 20-25, 27-29 defeat at home.

Sophomore OH Alicja Pawelec recorded 17 kills and rookie MB Catrina Warren added 11 in the loss. Warren hit .476 with six digs and six blocks in the three sets.

Senior S Nicole Tamburri posted her third double-double in the last five matches with 29 assists and 10 digs. Junior libero Theresa Harvey had 21 digs and sophomore DS Ellen Carberry had 10 in the loss.

Though slowing down the Saints' top offensive performer Taylor Akana for most of the match, two others burned Iona. Rachal Stoklosa and Colleen Ahearn combined for 23 of the squad's 49 kills. Stoklosa had a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Akana and libero Lesli Akeo each had 18 digs while setter Sarah Siverston hit .455 and had 42 assists and 11 digs.

The Gaels hit the road for a four-game swing at Rider and Loyola this weekend.
