ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Iona College men's water polo team fell in a pair of contests Saturday at the CWPA North-South Crossover.  The Gaels dropped game one to 14th ranked Princeton 15-4 before falling to Johns Hopkins 15-11 in the day's finale.

Princeton and Iona stayed close through the first quarter but the Tigers broke the game open with seven goals in the second quarter to build a 9-4 lead at the half. Princeton did not allow a goal in the second half and added six more to reach the 15-4 final score.

Against Princeton, freshman Jake Lloyd led the Gaels with three points on a goal and two assists.  Classmate Ian Thompson had one goal as did junior Kristian Bocage and sophomore Sean Davis.  Sophomore Stefen Hill has 12 saves.

In game two with Johns Hopkins, the Gaels had a one goal lead in the fourth quarter before the Blue Jays scored five unanswered goals.  Lloyd continued his strong day with six points on five goals and one assist.  Freshman Tyler Mancuso had two goals, one assist and drew one kickout.  Sophomore Lee Stiles had two goals while seniors Matt Joslyn and Cameron Hudson had one goal and an assist.

"We were our own worst enemies in this game with so many turnovers," said head coach Brian Kelly. "We will not be successful this season unless we fix these problems."

The Gaels conclude their weekend with a pair of contests Sunday, beginning with a matchup against 16th ranked Bucknell at 10:20 am.
