NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College junior Chris Yacobacci and sophomore Justin Grigull won a pair of individual events, but a strong Fordham University squad defeated the Gaels in both the men's, 135-96, and women's side, 184-59, on Senior Day.
Yacobacci took the 200-IM in 1:58.13 and followed that performance with a victory in the 100-Breaststroke. Grigull won the 200-Free with a time of 143:94 and then took the 500-Free in 4:47.89, defeating the next swimmer by just under 10 seconds.
The Gaels also took the men's 200-Free relay, consisting of senior Cameron Hudson, junior Joseph De Leone, sophomore Ryan Bacci and Grigull.
On the women's side, sophomore Kerri-Anne Dodenhoff won the 100-Breaststoke in 1:09.14. Senior Mackenzie Mone finished second in the 200-Free at 1:58.40 and junior Theresa Harvey came in second in the 50-Free at 25.39.
The Gaels will return to the pool on Tuesday against St. Peter's at 5 p.m.
