BUFFALO, NY - The Iona College volleyball team dropped a four set decision to Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Koessler Center. After evening the match in the second set, the Gaels lost sets three and four to finish action in Western New York.

Junior OH Alicja Pawelec continued her strong play with a match high 16 kills. She posted nine digs and four blocks. Sophomore RS Taylor Cembalisty recorded eight kills and three blocks. Junior OH Madisyn Spence had seven kills and 10 digs. Freshmen setter Natalie Ziskin had 34 assists and nine digs while senior libero Theresa Harvey had a team-best 28 digs.

Canisius was led by a trio of performers with double-digit kills. Emily Elek and Jessica Warner posted 11 each while Samantha Good had 10. Setter Sydney Palka had 44 assists and libero Allyson Severyn posted 30 digs.

Iona is back in action for a mid-week MAAC contest at Siena on Wednesday (Oct. 17) at 7:00 pm.
