CLAREMONT, CA – The Iona College men's water polo team split a pair of games for the third consecutive day as the Gaels fell to No. 9 Loyola Marymount 16-1 and then defeated Cal Tech 16-8 in the late afternoon game at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament.
Sophomore
Ian Thompson scored the lone goal for the Gaels in the early morning defeat. Junior
Stefen Hill made eight saves before freshman
Matt McCrudden took over midway through the third period and made five saves.
In the victory over the Beavers, juniors
Sean Davis,
Lee Stiles and sophomore
Jake Lloyd each scored a pair of goals to lead the Maroon & Gold. Davis led the team with three assists. Hill returned to the cage to make nine stops.
The Gaels will conclude their west coast trip with a 12 pm EST/ 9 am PST meeting with No.2 Santa Barbara.
