LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Iona College volleyball team dropped its second MAAC contest of the season in a five-set upset to Rider on Sunday Afternoon. The Gaels took the first and fourth sets, while the Broncs took the second, third and fifth deciding sets.
Rider won the match 21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 15-10. Sophomore middle blocker
Catrina Warren finished with her second double-double of the season on 23 kills and 12 defensive digs. Junior outside hitter
Madisyn Spence also completed a double-double with 13 kills and 27 digs.
Bridget Sheerin led the Broncs with 18 kills and 20 digs and Ashlee Amatulli had 42 assists. Brittany Gajewski finished with 45 digs as the Broncs defensively finished with 130 defensive digs.
The Gaels will return to the Hynes Athletics Center on Wednesday for a local non-conference meeting with Hofstra at 7 pm.
