BRONX, NY – The Iona College women's swimming and diving team fell to local rival Fordham, 140-93, on Friday evening at the Messmore aquatic Center.
The Gaels took four of the 13 events, with wins in the 100-breast, 200-free relay, one-meter and three-meter diving.
On the board, senior
Jamie Colburn won the three-meter dive with the score of 161.25 and junior
Melanie Dilascio won the one-meter, scoring 164.85. Freshman
Alicia Raffle and Dilascio placed second and third in the three-meter diving with Raffle also finishing second in the one-meter board.
The other Iona win, saw the foursome in the 200-free relay finish in 1:47.50. Led by seniors
Kelsie Johnson,
Victoria Ponzo, Mangione and anchored by junior
Brigitte Doughty, the group finished a few second ahead of the Iona "B" squad.
Other notable Iona finishes included, a third place finish in the 200-medley relay, senior
Theresa Harvey finished second in the 50-free , senior
Kara Nowakowski finished third in the 1,000-free, Dodenhoff came in third in the 100-free, the “B” relay squad finished second in the 200-free (freshman
Alexa Caravella, sophomore
Samantha Jaile, O'Connell and Nowakowski).
The Gaels will return to the Hynes Athletics Center on Tuesday for a MAAC meet with Saint Peter's at 5 p.m.
