The see-saw battle saw 11 tie scores and nine lead changes in the 50 minutes of action. Neither team could gain a significant advantage. Both teams' largest leads came early in the first half. The Gaels led 11-4 after a Laury layup four minutes into the game. The advantage was erased by a 9-0 Jasper run over the next 2:27. Jones had a shot to give the Gaels a lead at the end of regulation and first overtime periods. An 15-foot floater and a 35-foot jumper both rimmed out setting up the second overtime.
Trailing by two points with the shot clock off, junior Michael Alvarado was fouled with 11.1 seconds left.
