Box Score 2 GAINESVILLE, FL - The Iona College volleyball team fell to No. 5 Florida and Georgetown to complete action at the Active Ankle Challenge. The Gaels lost to the host Gators in three sets before a four set loss to the Hoyas. Junior Catrina Warren was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance in Iona's three matches.
In the opener, Florida topped Iona 25-14, 25-12 and 27-25. Junior Taylor Cembalisty's nine kills, .400 hitting percentage and three blocks were team highs. Warren posted six kills, eight digs and a block. Sophomore setter Natalie Ziskin had 21 assists while junior libero Katie Marabella posted eight digs in the loss.
The Gators were led by 13 kills from Alex Holston. Setter Mackenzie Dagostino had 40 assists and Taylor Unroe had 13 digs.
Georgetown took the night cap with set scores of 26-24, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-18.
Warren exploded for 17 kills and 17 digs. Cembalisty had 12 kills while senior Alicja Pawelec also added 12 in the loss. Ziskin posted a career-high 51 assists. Sophomore Katy Crouse matched a career-best with 18 digs while Marabella added 13.
Three Hoyas had double-digit kills led by Dani White's 17. Lauren Sarr (16 kills, 15 digs) and Alex Johnson (13 kills, 14 digs) had double-doubles. Setter Caitlin Brauneis had 42 assists and 11 digs.
Iona opens up Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play on the road next weekend when they take on Siena and Marist on Saturday (Sep. 21) and Sunday (Sep. 22).
