Box Score NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team picked up its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win of the season in a three-set sweep of Quinnipiac at the Hynes Center. The Gaels trailed just once in the entire match in the victory.
A balanced offensive attack saw three Iona performers with 10 or more kills. Junior OH Catrina Warren had her second straight double-double and team-leading fifth of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs. She also recorded two aces and an assist. Junior RS Taylor Cembalisty added 11 kills and eight digs along with a team-best four blocks. Senior OH Alicja Pawelec added 10 kills and hit .438 with three digs and two blocks.
Sophomore setter Natalie Ziskin had 34 assists and six digs. Senior libero Madisyn Spence posted a team-best 14 digs in the win.
Quinnpiac junior OH Tanner Celestin led her squad with eight kills. Freshman setter Emma Ogden had 24 assists and six digs while sophomore OH Chandler Thornton posted a team-high nine digs in the loss.
The Gaels are back in action Sunday afternoon when they host Fairfield at the Hynes Center at 1:00 pm.
