NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The women's swimming and diving team returned to the Hynes Athletics Center pool Friday afternoon against Fordham University. The Gaels fell to the Rams 144-77 in non-conference action.
In the one meter diving event, sophomore Alicia Raffle placed third with a score of 164.85. Raffle also placed third in the three meter diving event, tallying 151.27 points.
The Maroon & Gold placed first in two relay events. In the 400 medley, the tandem of senior Maria Skeivys, freshman Kathryn Nevin, senior Brigitte Doughty, and sophomore Melissa Dorsch finished with a time of 4:08.89. The 400 freestyle relay saw the quartet of Doughty, Dorsch, Nevin, and freshman Natalie Bowman touch with a time of 3:38.59.
In the 50 freestyle, Nevin touched first with a time of 25.75. The 500 freestyle saw Doughty finish second with a time of 5:13.55. Sophomore Alexa Caravella placed third in the 1000 freestyle, completing the event with a time of 11:51.55.
Bowman placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.54. Bowman also finished second in the 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:00.10.
In the 200 IM, senior Maria Skeivys placed second with a time of 2:14.65. Sophomore Mary Ellen Maangione finished just behind with a time of 2:14.80. Skeivys also placed third in the 200 yard backstroke, with a time of 2:13.58.
In the 200 breaststroke, Mangione outswam the competition, touching first with a time of 2:31.21. Sophomore Sophia Hyokyvaara finished just behind with a time of 2:31.73.
The Gaels will next compete at Saint Peters on Sunday, January 25th.
