Box Score NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center. The Gaels won the first two sets (25-18, 25-19) before dropping the final three (25-22, 25-23, 15-11) in the loss.
Senior MH Catrina Warren led the Gaels with 15 kills and 22 digs. She added three blocks and an ace for a team-best 18.0 points. Rookie OH Kassandra Darnaby had nine kills and seven digs. Junior RS Kiana McAuley-Pomeroy posted a career best eight kills in the loss. Senior RS Taylor Cembalisty had five kills and 10 digs. Setters Natalie Ziskin and Caris Myles split time at setter recording 20 and 19 assists respectively. Ziskin posted nine digs. Senior libero Katie Marabella had a third straight effort with 20 or more digs posting 28 while successfully returning all 35 service receptions.
Canisius was led by 16 kills from Katlyn Tyler and a 10-kill, 25-dig effort by Rachel Klein. Setter Grace Streicher had 36 assists and 15 digs while libero Emily Litwin had 32 digs in the win.
The Gaels host Niagara tomorrow at the Hynes Center with first serve scheduled for 1:00 pm.
