Box Score NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team was out lasted by Manhattan in five sets in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Hynes Center. The Gaels dropped the first, third and fifth sets in the 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 19-25, and 15-11 defeat to the Jaspers.
Senior Catrina Warren led the Maroon & Gold with 22.0 total points. She posted 18 digs and six blocks to go along with 20 digs in the defeat. Senior Taylor Cembalisty had 10 kills, 26 digs and six blocks while freshman Kassandra Darnaby posted nine kills and 11 digs and senior Shannon ward had eight kills and six blocks. Sophomore Karly White returned to the lineup in the second set and recorded a match best eight blocks. Junior setter Natalie Ziskin had 39 assists and nine digs as the Gaels primary setter in the final four sets. Senior libero Katie Marabella recorded 25 digs.
Manhattan's Malia McGuinness had a double-double with 20 kills and 27 digs. Sydney Volovski posted 23 digs. Setter Jade Gray had 48 assists and 18 digs. Libero Allie Yamashiro recorded 32 digs in the win.
After a bye on Sunday from MAAC action, the Gaels take on NJIT Tuesday.
