FAIRFIELD, CT - The Iona College volleyball team dropped a three set decision to Fairfield in the team's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener on the road at Alumni Hall. The Stags (5-6, 1-0 MAAC) took the match 25-23, 25-16, and 25-20.

Senior OH Catrina Warren led the Gaels with 12 kills. Senior MB Shannon Ward hit .462 with eight kills. Junior setter Natalie Ziskin recorded 23 assists while senior libero Katie Marabella posted 11 digs in the loss.

"Fairfield came out and played very well today," said head coach Jon Killingbeck. "We played well in spurts but we have to be more consistent to be successful."

Fairfield was led by Megan Theiller's 11-kill, 14-dig double-double. Setter Carsen Mata had 22 assists and libero Camille Coffey had 12 digs for the home team.
