RIVERDALE, NY - The Iona College volleyball team opened its 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate with a four-set loss at Manhattan Wednesday night at Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers took the match 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17.

Senior Karly White led Iona with six kills, five blocks and four aces. She hit .417 in the match with just one error on 12 attempts. Sophomore Claire Archibald had eight kills, 10 digs and three aces. Sophomore setter Emma Rose posted a 19-assist, 13-dig double-double.

Manhattan was led by 14 kills and 13 digs from Milena Janjusevic. Setter Zoe Lindsay had 39 assists and 12 digs and libero Allie Yamashiro had 25 digs and 12 assists in the win.

The Gaels return to non-conference action this weekend at Saint Francis (PA) when they take on Navy, Eastern Kentucky and the host Red Flash in Loretto, PA.
