CAMBRIDGE, MA - In a rematch from Wednesday's defeat to Wagner, the Iona Water Polo team was unable to upend the Seahawks in the opening contest of the Harvard Invite, falling 19-5.
Andrew Brozovic notched two goals on two shots and was ejected twice.
Patrick Hudak,
Quinn Lloyd and
German Rodriguez each tallied a goal.
Brett Hofer was held scoreless on five attempts and
Philip Wachowski drew a team-high three kickouts. Despite having five players with two ejections in the first half, neither picked up a final ejection. The Gaels went 2-9 on the man-up advantage and allowed three goals on 10 chances while down a man.
Jorge Andres Torres made four saves and allowed nine goals in the first half.
Michael Banks relieved Torres, making five stops and added an assist.
Iona was held scoreless in the first quarter and was outscored 7-3 in the second. The Gaels were outscored 5-1 in the third quarter and 4-1 in the fourth.
The Gaels conclude the Harvard Invite tomorrow against Claremont Mudd Scripps at 12:30 and Univeristy of Toronto at 5:00.
