NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona College volleyball program earned its 10
th Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win against Saint Peter's on Wednesday evening. The Gaels took down the Peacocks in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-19) behind three student-athletes with double-digit kills and the stellar play of senior
Emma Rose.
MATCH SUMMARY
Iona dominated the first set in all facets. It had a 16-3 kill advantage and defensively they held Saint Peter's to a match-low -.065%. The Peacocks had just 31 attack attempts. The set was put on ice following a Saint Peter's time out with the score 18-13 in Iona's favor. Sophomore
Taylor Cole unsettled the Peacocks after the break by serving three straight points.

In game two Iona had a match-best 17 kills and were able to withstand four aces from Saint Peter's. Junior
Tess Connolly had five kills in the set and Archibald had four, including the final nail in the coffin to give the Gaels a 2-0 lead heading into intermission. Senior
Emma Rose feasted in the second set with 16 assists.

Iona began set three with a quick 4-0 run and would not look back. Sophomore
Jamie Smith had six of her 11 kills in the third set. The Gaels had .457 hitting percentage as a team in the match's closing game.

With the win the Maroon & Gold extended its winning streak to eight games. Wednesday's sweep is third of the conference season and first since Oct. 6 at Siena.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Rose's 42 assists are tied for the 13th most in a three-set match in Iona history. She also had 14 digs. It's her eighth double-digit dig match of the season and her first since at Siena (Oct. 6).
- The Maroon & Gold finished the match with 46 assists, their highest total in a three-set match this season.
- The Gaels had the top three performers terms of kills. Archibald had a match-high 15 kills, Connolly ended with 12 and Smith finished strong with 11. Not Saint Peter's player had more than nine kills.
- Iona's .293 hitting percentage is its second best thus far in MAAC play. The season-high clip of .325 came against Manhattan (Sept. 25) in the league-opener.
