CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Iona College water polo program hit the road for a pair of road contests at MIT and Harvard, falling to both 11-7 and 17-4 respectively.
 
GAME 1: MIT 11, Iona 7
 
After leading 6-5 after a first half of play, Iona scored only one more goal the rest of the way, falling to the MIT Engineers 11-7. Andrew Brozovic scored three times on six shots, Lloyd scored a pair on two shots, Patrick Hudak scored once on 11 attempts and Hofer scored once on two tries. Michael Banks played the entirety, stopping nine shots.
 
Iona outshot the Engineers 32-29 ad were  6-11 on man-up opportunities.
 
Hudak scored Iona's first tally 38 seconds into the game and was answered by an MIT goal three minutes later. Brozovic was the next to score but MIT responded to knot the score at 2-2. The Engineers led 3-2 after the first quarter.
 
Iona scored four of the first five goals in the second quarter. Brozovic and Hudak gave the Gaels the lead with 5:49 remaining in the half. After a Lloyd goal with 3:38 to play in the half was answered by MIT, Hofer put the Gaels back up by a pair, 6-4.  Iona conceded one goal to lead by a tally at the half.
 
In the third quarter, MIT broke through with two goals before Brozovic knotted the score at 7-7 with 3:27 to play. The Gaels were held scoreless in the final 11:33 of play and allowed four more goals.
 
GAME 2: Harvard 17, Iona 4
 
In the second game of the day, the Gaels traveled to Harvard to take on the Crimson, where they fell 17-4.
 
Quinn Lloyd, Justin Ginsberg, Michael Feeley and German Rodriguez tallied the Iona goals. In net, Jorge Andres Torres made 12 saves and nabbed four steals.
