BRONX, NY – In the seventh edition of the Judge Cup, the Iona College water polo program was unable to upend the Rams, falling to Fordham 11-8. The Rams now hold a 4-3 advantage in the series. The Judge Cup is named after Dr. Francis X. Judge, a water polo pioneer at Fordham, and the founder of the Hudson Valley Water Polo Club.
The teams played even in the first quarter, each knotting two scores each. The Rams tallied the first and was answered by Wachowski. After Fordham regained the lead,
Andrew Brozovic scored in the final second to tie the score.
The second quarter saw the Rams outscore the Gaels 4-2. The Rams scored the first two before
Quinn Lloyd and
Justin Ginsberg scored twice over a two-minute span to bring the score to 4-4. Iona was held off the scoresheet over the final 3:41 while the Rams tacked on a pair.
German Rodriguez brought the Gaels within one with 4:36 remaining but the Rams tallied a pair over the final 3:59 to take an 8-5 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Rams increased the lead with three goals over the first 2:58 of the fourth quarter to take an 11-5 advantage. Brozovic,

The Gaels conclude the regular season with a 6-25 record and 0-10 in the NEWPC. Coming in as the #6 seed, Iona will battle with #3 seed Princeton on Friday November 16
th at Brown University in the first round of the NEWPC Championships.
