Claire Archibald recorded her sixth straight double-double and senior
Mia Bonsignore dominated in the middle with five blocks.
Archibald finished the match with 17 kills and 14 digs. She had a .128 hitting percentage and .362 kill percentage. Sophomore
Jamie Smith had 12 kills with a .079 hitting percentage and .316 kill percentage.
Bonsigmore had the best hitting percentage for the Maroon & Gold at .375. She had nine kills in addition to five blocks. Smith and Bonsignore each concluded the match with 13 points. Archibald had a team-best 18.
Redshirt junior
Jessica Paolucci had a team-best 18 digs. Junior
Tess Connolly and Archibald both had double-digits digs as well with 16 and 14 each. Senior
Emma Rose accumulated 48 assists and had a match-high four aces.
Central Connecticut won the first game ÂÂdue in large portion to five Iona service errors. The Maroon & Gold had its best attack percentage of .257 in the opening set. The Gaels bounced back in game two by turning up the defense and holding the Blue Devils to a match-low .053 attack percentage.
Following the intermission, CCSU had an attack percentage of .346 in the third set. The Blue Devils won the set 25-22 despite Iona recording 17 kills compared to just 11 for the victors. The Gaels dropped the fourth set hitting a match-low 0.023 attack percentage.
The Maroon & Gold begin conference play against rival Manhattan on Saturday. The Gaels will be eager for a victory in Draddy Gymnasium come 1 PM.
