NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Following an unprecedented fourth straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament championship this Monday, the Iona College men's basketball team awaits the announcement of its NCAA Tournament opponent during the CBS aired NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 17. The Iona College community invites all friends, family, alumni and fans to join the Gaels for a Selection Show Watch Party at the Hynes Center starting at 4:45 p.m.
The one-hour selection show is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, airing live on CBS and streaming on NCAA.com. The Maroon & Gold open the doors to the Hynes Center at 4:45 p.m. A short program begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the airing of the selection show live on the video boards.
Admission is complimentary though advanced registration for the event is required. For more information and to register, please visit the
registration link. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to meet the team and coaches while also enjoying free food and refreshments, entertainment, cash bar and student activities.
This year marks the sixth time in nine years and fourth straight season under head coach Tim
Cluess that Iona earns placement in the NCAA Tournament field. The Gaels earned the automatic bid by winning
Monday's MAAC Championship against Monmouth, 81-60.
Last season, the Maroon & Gold were selected as the No. 15 seed in the Midwest Region of the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Iona faced up against No. 2 Duke in Pittsburgh, PA at the PPG Paints Arena. The Blue Devils emerged victorious against the Gaels, 89-67. They advanced to the elite eight before falling to No. 1 Kansas.
