GAME SUMMARY

The Riverhawks ran out of the gate scoring the first goal 1:21 into the game and tacked on another four minutes later. Erin O'Donnell answered with her first goal of the season, but UMass tallied the next two to take a 4-1 lead 10 minutes into the game. With 16 minutes to play in the half, Marshall found the back of the net for the seventh time this season, but the Gaels were held scoreless for the remainder while the Riverhawks scored six times to open a 9-2 lead.
 
Iona and UMass played to a six-six score in the second half. Megan Collins found Katherine Meyer for her first score of the season to pull Iona within six. After two more UMass scores, Iona scored the next three led by Alyssa Connell, Meyer, and Libby Miller. Following the Iona run, the Riverhawks scored four consecutive goals before Meyer completed her hat trick with 6:56 to play. Marshall's score completed the scoring with 3:39 to play.

NOTABLE NUGGETS

• In net, Shannon McCaffrey made nine saves and allowed 13 goals to propel herself into second place all-time in program history.
• UMass Lowell outshot the Gaels 31-23 and held a 7-6 advantage in free position shots.
• Iona held the advantage in ground balls (13-12) and draw controls (13-11)
• The teams each turned the ball over 17 times, but the Riverhawks held a 10-9 advantage in caused turnovers.
