New Rochelle, NY - The Iona women's Lacrosse program secures their first win of 2020 with a nail biter over University of New Hampshire 9-8. Seven different Gaels scored, led by juniors Sara Stewart and Madi Kochanek with two goals each.

GAME SUMMARY

Junior Elyse Darcy recorded her first collegiate win today, facing 30 shots allowing eight goals while making 14 saves. As a team on defense the Gaels nabbed 19 ground balls and forced 16 turnovers.

New Hampshire jumped out to an early lead scoring the first three goals, until Meyer got Iona on the board. With 6:30 left on the clock the Wildcats increased their lead to 3 but the Maroon & Gold fought back and made it a one goal lead for New Hampshire going into halftime.

Sara Stewart opened the second half with her first goal of the game to make it even at four apiece, but the Wildcats were back up two just five minutes later. Stewart would find the back of the net for her second goal of the game to make it a one goal game with 21 minutes left to play.
