Third Annual 12 Days to Fight the Good Fight Campaign

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona University Director of Athletics Matt Glovaski announced the 12 Days to Fight the Good Fight, an annual initiative aimed at generating philanthropic support for Iona's teams, will return for a third year in 2022. In its first two years, the campaign led to previously unseen levels of engagement and support for Iona's teams.

This November 29, through December 15, Gael Nation is encouraged to again rally around Iona student-athletes to drive support that is critical for the advancement and sustainability of the Maroon & Gold.

"I want to thank everyone that has participated in 12 Days to Fight the Good Fight in its first two years," said Glovaski. "We continue to see how powerful it is when Gael Nation comes together in support of our student-athletes. I invite all to renew their support this fall, and welcome those participating in the 12 Days for the first time."

Similar to 2020 and 2021, this year each of Iona's teams will have a day of special recognition during the campaign, with individual programs being highlighted on Iona's social media platforms. Supporters of specific programs are encouraged to make their gift on the day their team is recognized. A calendar of when each team will be highlighted during the 12 Days is below.

As part of the initiative, Iona's teams will again compete against each other, with the highest two fundraising programs earning bonus allocations of Adidas team gear. Last year, Iona water polo emerged as the winner, edging Iona baseball. The water polo program raised more than $37,000 in support from 115 gifts during the 12 Days. Following water polo and baseball were softball, women's soccer, and women's lacrosse. Iona women's soccer took first place during the inaugural year of the campaign in 2020.

"The 12 Days to Fight the Good Fight campaign is vital for our program to sustain excellence on and off the field," said head softball coach Alyssa Tiumalu. "The gifts donated during the 12 Days allow for our current and future Gaels to thrive on and off the field. We are so grateful every year for all who support Iona Softball as well as our other sports programs. Thank you Gael Nation for your commitment to building champions."

Many companies have matching gift programs that can help double or even triple one's gift to Iona. If you or your spouse work for such a company, please obtain the required form from the personnel office and return it with your gift. Gifts made to Iona Athletics as part of the 12 Days initiative are tax deductible as prescribed by state and federal law.
